If you haven't received any holiday cards in the mail, you're not alone. Turns out, people just aren't sending them anymore.

According to Hallmark, a new recent trend is not sending a standard Christmas Card. Hallmark is one of the largest greeting card companies in the world. The company says Americans purchased 600 fewer Christmas Cards in 2014. That's a 30-percent drop from 2004..

Researchers say there are a variety of different factors to blame for the decrease. Some people say they are concerned about the cards being thrown away and hurting the environment.

Another concern -- too expensive. Stamps are now $0.49 each. But probably the biggest reason behind the drop are Christmas greetings via social media. Several people think Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have all eliminated the need to send a greeting since they are so connected.
