Police Investigate Fatal Shooting At Lawton Apartment Complex

The Lawton Police Department is investigating after a man was found shot early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to a reported shooting at an apartment complex in the 5200 block of Rogers Lane. Witnesses told police a vehicle left the scene and the shooting victim may have been inside that vehicle.

Officers found the vehicle south of the complex on 52nd Street and found the gunshot victim inside. The victim died from his injuries.

The victim was stationed at Fort Sill in the Army but is not a Lawton resident. Military personnel are assisting police in contacting next of kin. No names are being released at this time until notification. 

Police say after conducting numerous interviews, including one with the alleged shooter, the incident appears to be accidental. But the investigation is ongoing.
