Thunder Make It Three Straight Wins With Double-Digit Victory Over Hawks

Oklahoma City increased its winning streak to three games on Thursday night as they took down Atlanta 107-94 inside of Chesapeake Energy Arena.

Kevin Durant led the way for the Thunder with his first triple-double of the season—totaling 25 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Russell Westbrook added 23 points, 10 assists and six rebounds. It was the first time ever the duo both scored at least 20 points while dishing 10 or more assists in the same game.  

After blowing out Memphis on Tuesday in their best performance of the season, the Thunder picked up right where they left off on Thursday. OKC’s offense was in rhythm early in the game, and they built up their lead to as many as 11 points in the first quarter and took that double-digit lead into halftime.

It was after intermission that things began to get interesting when Atlanta’s shooters got hot. Kyle Korver knocked down back-to-back three-pointers, and then Jeff Teague and Al Horford each nailed one from long distance as well to bring the Hawks within only one point.

That Atlanta run appeared to be a wakeup call for OKC, and the Thunder scored the final seven points of the third quarter and were able to take an eight point lead into the final frame.

The Hawks got as close as six points early in the fourth, but the Thunder wore down the Hawks during the final stretch and won its second straight game by double-digits.

Along with Durant and Westbrook, Serge Ibaka had a monster game for the Thunder. Ibaka scored 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting and hauled down 10 rebounds while blocking two shots. Dion Waiters led the way off the bench on his birthday, and finished with nine points in 31 minutes.  Kent Bazemore scored 22 points off the bench to lead the Hawks.
