Just because we've seen temperatures below freezing, it doesn't mean we've come to the end of allergy season.

In fact, the cold weather can trigger allergies in some people. Doctors say now is a good time to get an allergy test.

Cedar pollen can be one of the main triggers of allergies this time of year. In fact, after Thanksgiving, it starts pumping pollen into the air. That's why doctors say it's important you know what you're allergic to, so you'll know when the symptoms are most likely to appear.

Experts say most allergic reactions can be treated easily with an anti-histamine or environmental control like a home air filter. Doctors tell us the biggest problem they see is people who avoid testing, and then learn the hard way that they're suffering from winter allergies.

"You end up with a bronchitis or sinusitis and then you end up in urgent care getting a steroid injection," said Dr. Patricia Dinger, Allergy Specialist.

Most allergy tests are usually covered by insurance, but prices can vary for those without coverage. In that case, it's best to check and see what you'd have to pay in order to get tested.
