After taking over the Oklahoma offense and leading the Sooners to a Big 12 Championship, it appears that Lincoln Riley has gotten the attention of other college football programs around the country with head coaching vacancies.

South Carolina happens to be one of the schools, according to a report by ESPN. The Gamecocks saw former head coach Steve Spurrier retire in the middle of this season, and it's clear the athletic department isn't afraid of kicking the tires of the 32 year old Riley, who happens to be a Broyles Award finalist. The Broyles Award is given to the best assistant in college football.

Rumors circulated last month that Riley interviewed for the North Texas head coaching vacancy, but Riley quickly released a statement through university saying he's not a candidate for the job.

These rumors leave the Sooners in a peculiar position, because they most likely have a College Football Playoff game waiting for them at the end of December. Last year, Ohio State offensive coordinator Tom Herman accepted a position to become head coach at Houston, but stayed on at Ohio State as play caller throughout the Buckeyes' national championship run. It would be interesting to see what Bob Stoops chooses to do if Riley does in fact get offered the job at South Carolina.
