Interesting that came up at Oklahoma Wesleyan, I've been having similar thoughts.

If you haven't already, parents, you might want to remind your young people that everything they post on social media will remain there for the world to see in one form or another.

This is specifically for those young people who have anointed themselves the social conscience of the college generation.
Those who've been forcing college leaders to resign, demanding free tuition, storming administrative offices, those who want protection from people saying hurtful things about them.

If I'm an employer, and a young person applies for a job with me, I'm going to check their social media pages, and if I see pictures of them whining about having to pay for college or crying or threatening to sue because someone tossed harsh words their way, I'm going to be real hesitant to hire them.

If I see they're shutting down Yoga classes at the University of Ottawa because it's insensitive to those who've suffered in India, or that you refused to establish a 9-11 moment of silence at the University of Minnesota because it could stoke Islamaphobia, I'm going to toss your resume into the recycling bin, hoping my environmental awareness will soothe your outraged sense of entitlement at not getting the job.

Social awareness is important, just be aware social media never forgets.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
