Woman's Family Honors Her Legacy, Continues Her Mission

On this Thanksgiving, an Oklahoma woman, who tried to leave the world a little better than she found it, is being honored by her family and by those touched by her mission of helping those less fortunate.

Lisa Miller Baldwin was known in the community for being the driving force behind the Wonderfully Made Foundation.

Tragically, she was killed in a car crash last October.

Baldwin’s friends and family always miss her this time of year but they are thankful they can keep her legacy alive.

“One thing that my mother did is she planted great seeds in us,” said Marquise Miller, Baldwin’s son.

He is one of five children Baldwin had. They now have children of their own, and as Baldwin’s family gathered together this Thanksgiving, her mission is always on top of mind, to continue to inspire and empower other men, women and children.

The same drive and passion that she had to help others, it was contagious and it spread to us,” Miller said.

Baldwin created the Wonderfully Made Foundation in 2007 to help the homeless and victims of domestic violence. The nonprofit group has already helped a number of Oklahoma City women and their children.

When the family looks at the faces of the people they have helped, they smile knowing their mother continues to create hope and change, even if she's not here to see it.

“When you do get to have some success stories, and you see that they are better than they were when they came in. I think that is what keeps you motivated and determined to go another day,” Miller said.

And Baldwin’s own mother Ruby Jones could not be more proud.

Jones is even doing her own part to keep her daughter's dream alive.

“And we really need the support of the community to help us continue such a great work,” Jones said. “It does take money it does take time, and it takes people that are dedicated to really care about people and do a good job.”

A family united in a mission of mercy, despite their own personal loss.

Baldwin's family is also having an Entrepreneur of Faith conference on December 12 at North Church in Oklahoma City to help inspire and guide those wanting to start their own business or foundation.
