In an effort to combat the historic teacher shortage crisis across Oklahoma, the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) is forming a task force to identify and recommend successful strategies.
OSDE Teacher Shortage Task Force will hold a community involvement meeting at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the State Department of Education’s office in the Oliver Hodge Building.
As the task force tries to find solutions to the shortage, it is bringing together representatives from a wide spectrum of fields to, “explore ways of remedying our unprecedented teacher shortage.” Among the potential actions the department wants to consider is a marketing initiative that could heighten awareness of the teacher shortage and urge people to become teachers.
News 9’s Alex Cameron is invited to attend the meeting to offer suggestions and feedback on this possible marketing campaign. He will be live-tweeting during the event.
