OKLAHOMA CITY -

Police got a big break in the investigation into the shooting death of a young Afghanistan war veteran.

24-year-old Devin Fuller survived two tours of duty only to be killed in an Oklahoma City parking lot.

Now, an arrest warrant is out for a suspect.

Crime Stoppers tips and other information have led police to a witness who said he saw 22-year-old Deshawn Colbert with a handgun and shooting in Fuller's direction.

Family and friends gathered earlier this month to honor and remember a young man, a father, a war veteran, whose life was cut short.

It was around 3:30 a.m. Nov. 1 when Fuller was shot in the head in a parking lot in the 1200 block of N Pennsylvania Avenue.

A friend said Fuller was there to give another friend a ride home.

“The only thing that I can hope is that the coward who did this, they’ll have their day,” said Kenneth Ward, a friend of Fuller.

Police are now looking Colbert. He also goes by the street name "Doopy."

Two weeks since Fuller's murder, a witness came forward and identified Colbert as the shooter.

According to court documents, Fuller's mother is the one who called detectives after that witness showed her a picture taken in the parking lot on the night of the murder.

Police say the witness told them Colbert was the only person shooting.

Now, Fuller's family, friends and fellow guardsmen are left trying to figure out why.

“Even if the story varies just a little bit, I know he wasn’t out there starting anything. He’s trying to leave, trying to go home,” said Ward who served with Fuller in Afghanistan. “Whoever was out there shooting, because I guess they had something to prove, uh, somebody upset me I have a gun, I’m going to pull it out and pull the trigger.”

When arrested, Colbert faces a first degree murder charge. Fuller left behind his fiancé and his 11-month old daughter.
