Russell Westbrook scored 40 points on 13 of 19 shooting and dished out 14 assists but the Thunder's defense was virtually nonexistent in a 122-114 loss to the Grizzlies.

Memphis, wearing funky-looking bright red throwbacks in honor of the ABA's Memphis Sounds, poured in a season high in points. The Grizzlies shot an unthinkable 70.6 percent from downtown and an equally-impressive 36 of 39 from the free throw line. Memphis was led by recently-acquired Mario Chalmers, who dropped 29 points off the pine. Mike Conley led the starters with 22 points while former Thunder wingman Jeff Green added 20. OKC held Memphis' big man duo of Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol to just 29 total points.

Oklahoma City's offense certainly wasn't the issue. Serge Ibaka scored 18 points, Enes Kanter scored 16 (in just 17 minutes) while Dion Waiters and Steven Adams each scored 14.

"I thought what really hurt us tonight was the 3-point line," Thunder coach Billy Donovan said. "Give them credit. Chalmers stepped up and made some, Conley made some. That really was the huge difference in the game."

OKC has lost two in a row without Kevin Durant in the lineup. The Thunder also played Monday's game without guard Andre Roberson, who had the flu.

The Thunder (6-5) is back at it on Wednesday against the struggling Pelicans at Chesapeake Arena. Memphis has won three straight and is back to .500 at 6-6.
