Several Tornadoes Tear Through TX Panhandle Into NW OK

Severe storms have produced several tornadoes in the TX panhandle and Northwest Oklahoma throughout Monday evening.

A tornado warned storm moved into Beaver County around 7:00 p.m, moving northeast at 50 mph. It produced a multi-vortex tornado just south of Elmwood, Oklahoma.

Around 7:35 p.m., more tornadic storms approached far NW Oklahoma.

Just after 8:00 p.m., tornadic storms began to approach NW Ellis County in far northwest Oklahoma. This storm system already had a history of producing large tornadoes out of Texas and carried over into Oklahoma.

Ellis County Sheriff’s Office confirmed one building with damage near Shattuck and power lines down north and west of the town. First responders were called to the scene to evaluate more damage.

Just after 9:00 p.m., News 9 stormtracker Val Castor confirmed a tornado touched down near Ft. Supply. The tornado was moving at 60 mph toward NW Woodward County. Residents in the area have been warned to take precautions.

A large tornado was located four miles south of Selman around 9:30 p.m. Ping pong ball sized hail and damaging winds is an extreme threat for the surrounding area.

Also, around 9:30 p.m., a tornado was located near Slapout, and just 16 miles west of Laverne moving at 30mph.

A Tornado Warning is in effect for Harper and Woods Counties until 10:30 p.m.

Just after 10:30 p.m., a line of storms producing high winds of up to 60 mph began moving toward NE Oklahoma. The tornado threat remains low with this system.

Also around 10:30 p.m., a line of storms producing high winds began moving across SE Oklahoma near Hollis. It is heading toward Magnum at 70 mph.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was in effect for Beckham, Custer, Greer, and Washita County until 11:15 p.m.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was in effect for Alfalfa and Major County until 12:45 a.m.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for Blaine, Canadian, Garfield, and Kingfisher until 1:00 a.m.

Storms are also set to arrive in central and eastern Oklahoma after midnight but the tornado threat will remain low in those areas.

A tornado watch has been extended and expanded into Central Oklahoma, including the metro area until 3 a.m.
