A metro teenager fell out of a moving pickup and is now hospitalized. Her mother wants to find the driver.

She said she believes it was an accident but has a lot of questions.

The 14-year-old girl is in the hospital with the cracked skull, but doctors are optimistic that she'll make a full recovery.

Yoly Sanchez doesn't remember the incident Monday afternoon or understand why she's in the hospital. It took some investigating on social media to help her family piece together the story.

“We just want to know what happened,” said Elvia Sanchez, Yoly Sanchez’s aunt.

Elvia Sanchez said her niece normally walks home from Roosevelt Middle School. But on Monday after school, Yoly spotted a truck bed full of her friends.

Elvia Sanchez said Yoly was in the back of the truck when she realized the truck wasn't taking her home.

“She said 'no, no stop I’m going to jump out. Y'all stop so I can jump out real quick,'” said Yoly's aunt.

She said the other girls in the pickup have told her, a few blocks from the school, the driver slowed down but never stopped. A neighbor nearby caught a glimpse of the truck from her security camera moments before the accident.

“They think that she lost her balance and that's what made her fall back like that because she want to jump out real quick,” she said.

With help from her mom and nurses at The Children's Hospital, Yoly is able to sit up now. Still, her family knows the road to recovery won't be easy.

“She's in a lot of pain. She has the fractured skull. The bleeding hasn't gotten any worse but hasn't any better,” Elvia Sanchez said.

Yoly's aunt thinks she has figured out the name of the driver and hopes they'll come forward.

“Yeah, I do believe it's a mistake, but just let us know what happened. I mean you were the adult there in that situation,” Yoly’s aunt said.

Oklahoma City police are investigating the accident. Due to the holiday, the department was unavailable for comment.
