Downed Power Lines Prompt Evacuation At Jones Middle School

Posted: Updated:
JONES, Oklahoma -

Strong winds partially knocked over a power pole near Jones Middles School, prompting an evacuation on Wednesday.

Students and faculty at the school are evacuating after the wind nearly toppled a power pole, leaving the school in the dark. Students were boarded onto buses and taken to the high school to finish out the day.

Parents have been given the option to pick their children up at the high school. Otherwise, they will be dropped off at home after class ends today.

Several other downed lines forced authorities to shut down W. Wilshire Blvd. and Indian Meridian Rd. in the area.
