Wizard fans hope tonight is the first of countless games at the Verizon Center for Kevin Durant down the road, Thunder fans hope it's just a one game homecoming for quite some time.
Tight quarters for today's chat with Durant, more than 35 media members packed in to hear what Kevin had to say after practice today. It's November, but it sure had a playoff feel to it as cameras jockey for the right position. Of course there is always one person with a camera who feels entitled to have the perfect shot, I tried my best to ignore him and stand my ground next to the ESPN reporter.
By my count, KD answered 10 questions mostly about coming home and the much anticipated free agency decision looming. Kevin indicated it means a lot to come home and play, but gave no indication the Wizards are in the running for Number 35.
I squeezed in the last question, asking Kevin – “Is it easy for you to block out distractions on the court, especially on a night like tonight?” His reply? "Yeah, I think I'm pretty good at not getting distracted. It's not easy when you're playing at home and my family's here and so many people came to see me play. But once I just focus on the game, I have a basketball game to worry about, plus, I have my mom. She is a superwoman so she's taking care of everything."
Kevin is focused on winning tonight, while the big decision waits on the sidelines. Question is, how long will that wait be. Point me to the White House, I have some sight-seeing to do before tip-off tonight.
