The woman accused of leaving two dogs to die on a property in Cleveland County has been identified and is awaiting trial.

News 9 first reported on the incident back in September, when the bodies of two dogs were found on the property just outside of Lexington. The dogs were chained up and fenced in without food or water.

News 9 spoke with the property owner, who said she leased the land to a woman who brought the dogs there. Neighbors said they saw someone come to check on the dogs every so often, but then the visits stopped.

Now, two counts of Animal Cruelty have been charged to the woman who allegedly leased the land, identified as 21-year-old Justine Wilson. News 9 is told Wilson was recently processed and released. A preliminary hearing date has been set for Nov. 17.
