A veteran of the war in Afghanistan lost his life following a shooting early Sunday in the metro.
Now, Oklahoma City police are looking for his killer.
Doctors at OU Medical Center pronounced 24-year-old Devin Fuller dead Tuesday afternoon.
Police say a gunman shot Fuller in the head in the parking lot on the 1200 block of North Pennsylvania around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
Norman resident Kenneth Ward served with Fuller in Afghanistan in 2011 and 2012.
Ward said Fullers’ family told him Fuller was out at 3 a.m. Sunday because a friend who was too intoxicated to drive had called Fuller and asked for a ride home.
“Even if the story varies just a little bit, I know he wasn’t out there starting anything,” Ward said. “He’s trying to leave, trying to go home. Whoever was out there shooting, because I guess they had something to prove, uh, somebody upset me, I have a gun, I’m gonna pull it out and pull the trigger."
Police are asking for the public’s help in solving the crime.
Ward said Fuller had his whole life in front of him. He was working in construction and going to college.
Ward said Fuller had plans to get married soon, and has an 11-month-old daughter.
