Crews Respond To Vehicle Fire At Gas Station In South OKC

Crews dealt with a potentially explosive situation after a vehicle caught fire at the gas pumps of the Murphy’s station in front of a south OKC Wal-Mart, Thursday afternoon.

Crews dealt with a potentially explosive situation after a vehicle caught fire at the gas pumps of the Murphy’s station in front of a south OKC Wal-Mart, Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the Wal-Mart Supercenter located near I-240 and S. Santa Fe Ave. just after 2 p.m.

Investigators believe some type of small explosion occurred because two vehicle nearby had glass damage. Some other people standing nearby also had cuts from being hit by the glass.

The vehicle where the fire started was completely destroyed. The driver of that vehicle sustained 2nd degree burns and had to be transported to the hospital. The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
