Oral Roberts University celebrated its 50th anniversary by forgiving the debts of 10 students during a chapel service Wednesday.

During a random drawing, ORU President William Wilson selected the ten students.  The list included Erin Clothier, Daniel Farias-Alvarez, Leah Foster, Cingza Gin, Elizabeth Gomez, Kimberley Leatherwood, Natalie Persinger, Brittany Reagle, Luke Rentz and Thy Tran.

“This 50th year is a time of jubilee at ORU we care deeply about our students and are concerned about their debt. While the University can’t pay the debt of all our students, this was a way for us to symbolically celebrate by helping 10 students have a jubilee experience,” said William Wilson.

The ten will receive forgiveness of any debt owed directly to ORU.

All full-time graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in on-campus programs were eligible for the drawing and had to be at the chapel service to win.

ORU’s Global Celebration Week continues through Saturday with a number of activities planned at the south Tulsa campus.
