Something happened Monday in Britain that hasn't made many headlines here yet, but I bet it will.

Prime Minister David Cameron called on the British people, and especially British Muslims to step up the fight against the growing threat of Islamic extremism within the United Kingdom.

He unveiled his new counter extremism strategy, designed to prevent British youth from joining terrorist organizations.

Among the steps in his program:

Allowing parents to have the passports of their teenagers canceled if they believe they're at risk of becoming extremists. For instance if they've been talking about running off and joining ISIS.

Radical preachers in the UK will be prevented from posting materials online or broadcasting them.

Anyone convicted of extremist or terrorist activity will be banned from working with children.

And Cameron has promised his government will more closely monitor Islamic religious schools, and if they're found to be teaching hate or intolerance they will be shut down.

Cameron is challenging the Muslim community to partner with the government in rooting out the extremists in Britain.

Already there is backlash to the Prime Minister's counter extremism strategy, but he seems unlikely to back down.
