A metro mother of eight was grabbed, held up, and had her paycheck stolen right out of her hands.

The suspect was a career criminal with a history dating back decades. Just last week, police put out an alert on him for three robberies.

Bufford Wilson, 52, was just released from the state Department of Corrections in March after serving time for two other robberies.

Now, he's locked up again, sitting in jail for stealing more than $400 in cash from an Oklahoma City mother.

“Somebody come to open my door, he says give me your money,” Silvia Hernandez said.

Friday evening, Hernandez had just walked out of a convenience store on SE 44 after cashing her check.

In her hand was $422 in cash.

“[He] open my door and say give me your money,” Hernandez said.

Hernandez said Wilson opened her door and violently grabbed her by the shirt while inside her car.

“What’s wrong, why you open my door,” asked Hernandez. “Not talking too much because I’m scared. I’m nervous. I’m stumped.”

Hernandez hands over the cash.

“It’s okay. It’s okay,” Hernandez said. “I said, take the money, take the money. That’s it. Just go.”

According to court records, Wilson spent most of his adult life in prison for robberies and burglaries across the state.

For 29 years, he's been in and out of custody.

Hernandez is just glad she made it out of this one alive.

“The guy, he looks like, desperation,” she said. “Maybe kill me. Maybe, I don’t know.”

Hernandez did get her money back.

Wilson was arrested for assault and battery and robbery complaints and taken to the Oklahoma County jail.
