One person was arrested for firing shots into the air during an event at Langston University early Thursday. No one was injured.

Authorities said shots were fired outside the Student Success Center. This is homecoming week at Langston and a campus police officer was working at the event when he heard the shots at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

News 9 learned that concerts and parties have been going on all week. Twitter updates indicate a hip-hop concert was being held Wednesday night. It started at 11 p.m.

According to the President of Langston University, the suspect, who is not a student at the university, fired his gun in the air as he was leaving the concert. He has been taken into custody.

Reporter Justin Dougherty talked to a student, who said several fights broke out during the event and he heard two gunshots.

Officials with Langston University released the following statement,

"Langston University police immediately apprehended a suspect after a shot was fired into the air following a campus concert celebrating homecoming weekend Wednesday night.

Campus police witnesses a man firing the gun into the air and immediately arrested him for possessing and discharging a weapon on campus. The suspect is not a Langston University student. Guns are prohibited at Langston University."
