OKLAHOMA CITY -

First responders are on the scene of a fatal crash on Interstate 240 on the southeast side of the metro, Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called out to the crash on the eastbound side of I-240, just to the east of S. Anderson Rd., shortly after 4:30 p.m. The wreck involved a black pickup and a semi.

So far, authorities have confirmed one fatality. The call originally went out as an extrication. It is unclear if anyone else was injured. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Traffic on eastbound I-240, merging into I-40, is backed up for miles while crews work the scene.

Just before 6 p.m., a total of four additional accidents were reported to have occurred in the area. Officials are urging drivers to avoid the area.
