A heated exchange turned personal at Tuesday night's city council meeting in Luther.

Luther Mayor Birlene Langley claims fellow Board Member Ron Henry was laughing at the expense of her grandson who suffers from cerebral palsy.

“Ronnie, are you laughing at Jeremy?” Langley is heard on a video recording of Tuesday’s meeting.

"I’m not laughing at your dumb a**,” Luther board member Ron Henry is seen on camera saying to the disable man.

Moments later, the man’s mother got in the face of Henry and eventually several people were escorted out of the Luther board meeting.

The outburst came after another board member accused everyone in attendance of being racist.

“Everybody has some inkling of racism in them, everybody,” said Board Member Cecilia Taft during the meeting.

A day after the incident, nobody is apologizing.

Ron Henry told News 9 he doesn’t regret what he said because he doesn’t remember what he said.

“I cannot stand for my grandkids to be hurt in any way,” said Mayor Birlene Langley to News 9.

Langley said after the incident, she was illegally removed for the office of Mayor, but will remain on the board.

That means the same board members will meet again for their next meeting in a month.

Another board member will serve as interim mayor until a permanent replacement is appointed.
