ERICK, Oklahoma -

The mayor of Erick was arrested and accused of abusing his own daughter.

According to the Beckham County Sheriff's office, it all started with a fight between Erick Mayor, David Guy, and his daughter.

The 16-year-old girl had been caught helping students at school cheat on a test.

Deputies say her stepmother first confronted her about the incident and a fight broke out.

When Guy arrived, police say he tried to restrain his daughter and then got aggravated to the point of hitting her over and over.

“Once he got her in the house he slapped her repeatedly in the face causing facial injuries,” Beckham County Undersheriff, Jeff Bilbo.

Guy is awaiting his initial appearance in court for child abuse. His daughter his now staying with her grandmother.
