About 35 adult dogs rescued during a recent animal cruelty case in Norman are now ready to go to their "furever" homes.

The Norman Police Department shared “glamour shots” of several of the pups on its Facebook page Monday. The department said all dogs have been spayed and neutered and are ready for adoption.

Officials with the Norman Animal Welfare Center said they have received immense interest from the public to adopt the animals, so an adoption event will be held on October 25 for the first group of dogs. Staff will announce the location and time, and post photos and information of the animals on the Norman Animal Welfare Center’s website before the event.

If you are interested in adopting one of these dogs, complete a registration form and send it by email to Animal.Welfare@NormanOK.gov. Potential adopters can find the registration form at http://www.normanok.gov/content/animal-welfare at the top of the page. Animal Welfare Center staff said they will use the applicant’s information to assign an ID number for each person during the event.

At the adoption event, ID numbers will be drawn at random, and the person selected will get their choice of a dog until all are taken. Each household will be limited to one dog. The normal $60 adoption fee and application will apply to all adoptions. If any dogs are left at the end of the event, staff will return them to the shelter where they will remain available for adoption.

According to animal welfare officials, adult female dogs with puppies are in foster locations outside the shelter and are doing well. In the coming weeks, when these mother dogs and their puppies are ready for adoption, the Norman Animal Welfare Center will hold additional events as needed.

For more information on the adoption event, call Norman Animal Welfare at (405)-292-9736 or go to http://www.normanok.gov/content/animal-welfare.
