OKLAHOMA CITY -

The wind is the big headline on Monday, putting several Oklahoma counties at risk for high fire danger.

If you were out at the park or the pumpkin patches over the weekend, you weren't alone. Parks were full of people taking advantage of these warm October temperatures. But with the warm weather comes red flag warnings.

Twenty seven counties in our state are under a red flag warning Monday morning. When a red flag warning is in place, keep in mind, fires may start easily and spread quickly.

Low humidity and wind gusts up to 30 mph make for a dangerous combination. You're being asked to trim any brush away from your house, mow your grass, and if you smoke, be careful not to throw a cigarette out the window as all that dry brush could ignite in a moment.

More than a year ago a deadly wildfire sparked in Logan County, destroying homes and thousands of acres. And all the rain we got this spring and summer has certainly helped feed the overgrown brush in that area.

That red flag warning issued by the National Weather Service is in place until 7 p.m. Monday.
