OKLAHOMA CITY -

The GOP in Oklahoma has a new leader.

Republican lawmakers elected Pam Pollard late Sunday afternoon to take over as leader of the state Republican Party.

She served as the head of Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women and was a part of Gov. Mary Fallin's gubernatorial campaign.

Sunday, Pollard came by News 9 to talk about how she is going to more the Oklahoma GOP forward.

She will serve an unexpired term until 2017.

Pollard takes over after Randy Brogden stepped down and months after he made controversial comments online about welfare recipients.
