Police are investigating after a threatening note was found at Putnam City North High School Thursday night.

According to Putnam City schools officials, "Bloody Massacre Oct. 9" was written in the boys' bathroom and discovered by a cleaning crew around 9:45 p.m. Thursday. The district notified parents of the incident Friday morning.

Schools officials said they do not believe the threat is credible, but they take these incidents seriously. Parents who checked their students out for the day were told their absence would be excused. Only 30 percent of the students decided to stay at school as of 10 a.m. Friday.

The school is still investigating the source of the message. Two campus police officers are always at the school, and an additional one was called in on Friday. More will check in throughout the day.

Threatening messages were found earlier this week at several Oklahoma schools, including Capitol Hill High School, Norman North High School, Westmoore High School and Moore High School. Authorities said a student was also suspended after a ‘Hit List’ was discovered at Edmond’s Central Middle School
