My 2 Cents: Mass Shooting At Community College In Oregon

It was heartbreaking to hear the news out of the Oregon community college shot up last week by a lone gunmen.

The President passionately renewed his call for tighter gun control, and I understand his frustration that these mass shootings keep happening over and over.

Sure, guns are a common thread, but there are others.

Almost always there are signs of mental illness in the attacker that has been left under or untreated.

And the people who die in these shootings are usually sitting ducks with no way to defend themselves.

The two campus police officers at the Oregon college were unarmed, which is crazy to me.

And most of the students believe that guns aren't allowed on the campus, although a few military veterans were carrying.

But obviously nobody in the classroom that became a bloodbath was equipped to stop a killer.

Is the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun to have a good guy with a gun?

Is that more plausible than believing we can keep guns out of the hands of crazies with stricter gun registration laws?

I don't pretend to have the answer.
