Now that we are into October, we keep a much closer eye on the jet stream as it becomes more of a player into our weather pattern.

The current pattern aloft is not that impressive. The main branch of the jet stream - which brings those blue northern's this time of year - is way up in Canada with no signs of heading this way.

Our current flow aloft is dominated by a weaker sub tropical jet which has brought showers and some storms the last few days. This will continue to bring a rain chance to the state with the best chances being in western and northwest Oklahoma through Sunday.

At the surface, a large area of high pressure has been anchored over the Great Lakes. This has dominated our weather bringing the pleasant fall feel to the air with several waves of cooler air sliding over the state. Combine that with the clouds, east/northeast winds and the rain, our temperatures have felt much more fall like.

The high will weaken over the next several days and warmer more humid air will return. A storm system is expected to bring rain and storm chances back to the state later next week.
