As the summer warmth begins to wind down, one mother's life-saving mission is just starting to heat up. She's come up with a device she hopes will prevent hot car deaths.

Every year, about 40 children die after being left in hot cars. That's a number that shocked this mother of three with another little one on the way.

After learning the statistics, she decided to take action into her own hands. She came up with this steering wheel cover, embroidered with sayings to remind drivers to check the back seat before they get out of the car.

She even turned to Kickstarter to help fund the covers. At just $15, she hopes this will be an inexpensive way to save lives.
