Triathletes are expected to run-up a giant tab in Oklahoma City this weekend.

The Redman Triathlon starts on Saturday. City officials expect it to have a multi-million dollar economic impact.

This year, the over 1200 runners from just about every state will be at Lake Hefner for the U.S. Championship. It's expected that the competition will bring in over $3 Million. Not only that, but this year has set the course for a world championship next year.

"We've been out at the race site this morning, out at Lake Hefner, and it looks like a fantastic race site. Plenty of water in the lake at the moment, which is good because I heard that could change. And yeah, the course sounds like it's going to be a great one," said Chris Fifield with the New Zealand National Team.

That was a representative for the New Zealand national team. In total, 42 countries will be represented next year.

Last year's world championship was held in Sweden. The Premier Full and Half Distance Triathlon & Aquabike starts at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, September 26.
