Accused of trying to hide from the law, a Norman softball coach is charged with two counts of child porn. And, Investigators say his girlfriend could get up to 10 years behind bars for trying to help him leave town.

Emily Stover, 23, is now sitting in the Cleveland County Jail Thursday for harboring a fugitive. She was allegedly trying to find a place to hide the former youth softball coach, apparently at a home somewhere in Choctaw.

It all started with a phone call from a Norman drug and alcohol treatment center. There, a client was allegedly coordinating a plan with Stover to find a place for Mark Simpson to hide out.

Simpson is accused of child porn possession. Thirty-two images were found on thumb drives and a laptop computer.

“Basically the treatment center said, hey one of our clients is being contacted by this fugitive, and or the girlfriend,” said Cleveland county District Attorney, Greg Mashburn.

When police got wind of that, Mashburn's task force immediately took over the conversations via text message.

“She thought she was talking to a friend of hers,” said Mashburn. “She was actually talking to the police, and they set up the meeting.”

And those conversations led them to a donut shop off of 89th and Sooner Rd. in Oklahoma City.

“Mr. Simpson thought that they were meeting this friend to go to a safe house and hide,” said Mashburn.

But Mashburn says ultimately the couple didn't really have a plan. The two had several bags and their dog in the trunk.

A clear sign they were trying to leave town.

“They didn’t know. They were basically, where can we hide and then the police were like, ‘yeah, we got a place for you to come hide.’”

The initial investigation surfaced after police received a tip. The DA says they will keep a close eye on Simpson if he's able to make bond.

So far though, a bond for Simpson has not been set.
