Oklahoma City Police are looking for a thief who broke into a northwest Oklahoma City liquor store and took more than $3,000 in expensive alcohol.

It happened just after 1 a.m. Saturday, September 19, at Sam's Warehouse Liquor on NW 63rd street, just west of May Ave.

In the surveillance video, you see the thief bust through the glass window and then run in carrying a clear plastic bag.

He went straight for the good stuff.

“Very selective in what they picked,” said Sam Eid, the store owner. “They picked most expensive cognacs and most expensive vodka. He had very good taste.”

One thing the crook took was a box containing a bottle of Louis the 13th. It is about an 80-year-old bottle of cognac imported from France. It’s rare, it’s expensive, and now it’s gone.

But the thief did leave behind some fingerprints on an empty box, and hopefully it helps police track him down. He also took a high dollar bottle of Hennessy worth more than $660.

“They like cognacs,” said Eid.

The owner said this has happened once before. Even though the store has signs and cameras clearly posted all over the store, it did not stop this thief in the least. He was in and out in less than two minutes.

The store has boarded up the glass door where he made his getaway, and cleaned up the mess the thief left behind. The owner is just glad the thief did not take any more bottles or break them all on his way out.

“They could have done that if they wanted to, but thank God they didn't,” said Eid.

Since this has happened, the owner plans to display his high dollar drinks only in empty boxes, and keep the real thing locked up and out of sight.

If you know who did this call you’re asked to call Crime Stoppers at (405) 235-7300.
