Final preparations are being made before Pope Francis arrives in U.S. Tuesday for his first-ever visit. While here, the Pope will tour Washington D.C., New York and Philadelphia.

The nation’s Capital is the Pope's first stop here in the U.S., and after a White House ceremony and a parade Wednesday, the Pope will address a joint session of congress on Thursday.

Now with Pope Francis' visit this will make him the third Pope to visit the U.S. Previously it's been Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI. But in this visit it will be the first time ever a Pope has addressed a joint session of Congress.

One of the pope's advisers has said in reports that we should expect the Pope to urge lawmakers to welcome immigrants, protect the environment, fight partisanship and promote dialogue.

Oklahoma's Senator James Lankford also wants the Pope to touch on an issue that's become highly controversial, Planned Parenthood.

"Obviously when the pope speaks he shares the visions and faith of millions of Americans, I think it's extremely important that he articulates the issue of life. This has been a big issue for Catholics for decades and decades and in the history of the church life has always been extremely important. So it would be good for the pope to add to this conversation on planned parenthood and this national conversation about the value of children," said Sen. James Lankford.

The Pope's entire visit to America will last from Tuesday to the 27th. One of his last stops will be a correctional facility in Philadelphia.
