Police are still searching for the person who walked up to a southeast Oklahoma City home and gunned a man down.

While investigators work the case, a friend of the victim, who saw the incident, is trying to figure out what exactly happened in his driveway.

Police's Air One flew overhead and Oklahoma City police officers combed the ground Monday evening near SE 33 Street and Lindsay Avenue.

A man was dead, lying in James Ward's driveway, and the search was on for a murder suspect.

“It appears that the suspect just walked up to the victim, shot him, and then fled on foot,” Oklahoma City police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said.

And no motive and a vague suspect description.

“He said, 'Cameron, you crazy (expletive), I’m going to shoot you,' and he did,” Ward said.

Ward said he has never seen the man before and his friend was killed in cold-blood.

“He just walked up beside me, he was standing right there outside the door. I had the door shut, and he said, 'Is Cameron her?' I said, 'yeah, he’s here,'" Ward said.

Ward was sitting in Cameron's car. Cameron was under the hood when he was approached by the gunman.

“When the shot went off, I heard a thump. I guess him hitting the gate or the fence there, and he walked off like it wasn’t nothing,” Ward said.

Cameron was killed right in front of Ward.

“Startled me, man. When that gun fired off, I was fearing for my own life. I figured he was going to turn around and shoot me too,” Ward said.

“Stupidity. I don’t know why people have to hurt each other, you know,” Ward's sister Julie Ford said. “We just need to all get along and live.”

Ford is in town visiting.

“My kids grew up in this neighborhood, and we never had stuff like this go on. This is ridiculous,” Ford said.

“Wasted some innocent life, man,” Ward said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the homicide tip line  at (405) 297-1200.
