Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield has been named the Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week after a record-setting performance in OU's 52-38 win over Tulsa, the league announced Monday.

Mayfield set a school single-game record for total offense with 572 yards (most by an FBS player this season) as Oklahoma improved to 3-0 with the win over the Golden Hurricane. He directed an Oklahoma attack that racked up 773 yards of total offense, the program's most since 1988 and its fourth most ever.

The Austin, Texas, native was 32-for-38 for a career-high 487 yards passing (second most in FBS this season) and rushed for a career-high 85 yards on 13 carries. He tied a school record with six total touchdowns (tied a personal career high with four passing TDs and set a career high with two rushing TDs).

One of his rushing scores went for 39 yards, the longest carry by a Sooner this year. According to ESPN Stats and Info, Mayfield became the first FBS player since at least 2000 with at least three passing TDs and at least one rushing TD in each of his team's first three games of a season. He ranks first among FBS players in points responsible for (84), second in total offense per game (400), second in passing TDs (10), fifth in passing yards (1,062) and sixth in passing yards per game (354).

It's the second time in his career that Mayfield has been named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week. He also earned the honor after his first collegiate game at Texas Tech on Sept. 2, 2013. He becomes the first Sooner to win the award since running back Samaje Perine won it in back-to-back weeks last season on Nov. 17 and 24.

Mayfield shares the honor with TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin who also accounted for six touchdowns to go along with 504 yards of total offense.

Oklahoma has a bye this week but returns to the field on Oct. 3 to host West Virginia. Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT and the game will be televised by FS1.
