The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office says an inmate was found dead at the jail on Saturday.

According to TCSO Deputy Justin Green, an employee was doing a routine security check and found a 54-year-old male unresponsive. A medical emergency code was called, but life-saving measures were unsuccessful, Green said.

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office positively identified the deceased as Danny Jay Watters. Watters was charged with stalking, domestic assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and violation of a protective order.

He had a criminal history of felony drug and arson convictions.

TCSO released his name Sunday morning after family notifications had been made.

An investigation into the death has been launched, but Green said there were no signs of trauma. The medical examiner will rule on official cause of death.
