Authorities Investigate Homicide In Pott. County

Posted: Updated:

Authorities are investigating a reported shooting after a man was found dead in the middle of a road in Pottawatomie County.

Right now, authorities are going on their fifth hour of investigating this deadly shooting.

Crime tape is blocking off access down Angie Lane in Pottawatomie County, just off Hardesty Road.

The sheriff told News 9 the call came in early Saturday afternoon about a shooting in this area.

They showed up to find a white male in his mid-30's, dead in the middle of Angie Lane.

Another person involved ran to a neighbor saying he shot the victim and they called 911.

That man was having trouble breathing and wasn't steady on his feet. He was taken to the hospital.

"We did clear the house and found that there were no other individuals there. Everything is safe at this point and everything is secure," Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth said.

After securing the house, they were working to get a search warrant to process the scene.

Booth said both guns and knives were involved in this crime.

It appears the two men knew each other but what the struggle was about and what actually happened is still up in the air right now.

Booth said they need to talk to the second man once he is medically cleared.

The victim's identity will be released after next-of-kin has been notified.

Along with an ambulance, the Shawnee Absentee Police, Pottawatomie Nation Tribal Police, the district attorney's task force and the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office responded to this shooting.

OSBI has also been requested for assistance.
