Two wastewater disposal wells will stop operations in Cushing, Oklahoma, following a series of earthquakes that hit the area, according to the Oklahoma Corporation Commission.

As a result of an analysis of disposal well and seismicity data in the Cushing area, the Oklahoma Corporation Commission’s Oil and Gas Conservation Division (OGCD) is implementing a plan to change the operation of certain oil and gas wastewater disposal wells in the Cushing area.

Official said the plan may be altered as more data is made available. It calls for two disposal wells to stop operations, and for three others to reduce the disposal volume.

The wells and operators are:

Operator: American Energy-Woodford, LLC

Wells: Calyx 35-2: reduce volume

Louis 6-3: shut in, plug back

Wilson 11-15: shut in

Clay: - reduce volume

Operator: F.H.A Investments

Wells: FHA 1-15: reduce volume

The plan may be changed based on the latest data, according to the commission.

Friday morning, two earthquakes, including a 4.1 magnitude, were recorded near Cushing.
