Bob Stoops met with media members in Norman on Monday to field questions about his team’s gutsy road win against Tennessee and this weekend’s opponent, Tulsa.

Some highlights from the Stoops presser:

  • Bob hit back at ESPN radio host Paul Finebaum, who dubbed Stoops and the Sooners ‘irrelevant’ on Saturday morning. “I don’t care. He doesn’t deserve that kind of attention from me,” Stoops came back. “Bottom line is, ask Tennessee and their 105,000 people if we’re irrelevant or not.”
  • He spent a long time praising the defense, crediting them with keeping the game alive.
  • Stoops confirmed freshman Rodney Anderson has a fracture in a non-weight-bearing bone and will miss the rest of the season. Anderson will redshirt this year.
  • High praise for OU’s linebackers, “They’re as good a linebacking group as there is in the country. They’re all fast, they all have range, they all have size.”
  • Despite the starter’s success, Stoops said he wants to get backup linebacker Obo Okoronkwo more game repetitions.
  • Bob said Joe Mixon could throw the ball out of the wildcat formation the Sooners used at times against Tennessee. “He’s really good with the ball. He can throw it really well.”
