Motorcyclists Ride With News 9's Stan Miller To Fight Childhood Hunger

The kickstands went up as hundreds of motorcyclists from around the state took part in Oklahoma's Own Ride Against Childhood Hunger with News 9's Stan Miller Sunday morning.

The pack took off about 9 a.m. Sunday from News 9 studios near Kelley Avenue and Wilshire Boulevard. Their trip has them cruising through some of the state's most scenic highways and back roads. 

Riders are scheduled to enjoy a lunch at Lucille's Restaurant in Mulhall as well as some live music and entertainment. 

The fifth annual ride benefits the Food for Kids program at the Regional Food Bank. Before the ride started, more than $80,000 was raised. The total amount of people that participated was 463 which includes both riders and passengers. By the end of the ride, there was more than $86,000 raised.

One in four children in Oklahoma struggles with hunger every day and Oklahoma is the fifth hungriest state in the nation.

During the ride, a single-motorcycle accident involving two injuries was reported. 

The riders involved in the accident were not registered participants in Oklahoma’s Own Ride Against Childhood Hunger.

A female rider was taken by medical helicopter and a male rider was taken by ambulance to OU Medical Center.
