A suspect was arrested after leading Oklahoma City police on a high-speed chase in a stolen pickup truck early Wednesday morning.

The truck’s owner learned a valuable lesson the hard way. Dylan Roberson said he was at the 7-Eleven near 32nd and Classen, a place he goes all the time, when he left his truck running and went inside to grab an iced tea. Roberson said he then heard the tires of his truck screeching away.

Police got the call around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday and started looking for the Black Chevy pickup truck with neon green headlights. Officers found the car near Hefner and Western, but instead of pulling over, the suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Brandon Perry, took off. That's when the pursuit began.

During the chase, Perry’s speeds got up to 85 mph. Edmond police officers got involved as well. They used stop sticks and eventually got Perry to stop. Officers caught him at 15th and Broadway.

The owner said he’s done this before: going into the store for what seems like a few minutes with the truck running.

"I've been doing that a long time. Never had anything like this happen," Roberson said.

Roberson will spend the day cleaning the interior. No one was hurt during the chase despite speeds reaching up to 85 mph on the side streets.
