A new view of the fiery, fatal crash at the weather center in Norman.
A Kansas man rammed the security gates back in April. There are still questions but News 9 has obtained video from first responders.
On April 24, News 9 requested surveillance video of the incident from the University of Oklahoma.
Four months later, OU did not give News 9 that video but instead gave dash cam footage from responding officers.
Sirens sounded throughout the University of Oklahoma's campus on the afternoon of April 23. About 3:30 p.m., OU police and fire crews rushed to the National Weather Center.
A car erupted into flames after it barreled through a security gate and sat burning inside the loading dock area.
In the video, OU police attempted to pull open the broken and dented gate by tying ropes to it and a vehicle, but the bashed gate wouldn't budge.
Firefighters were forced to pull hoses through a side door to extinguish the flames and attempt to save the man trapped inside.
The driver, later identified as Allen Michael Rouse, 55, of Wichita, Kansas, died despite several attempts to save him.
The FBI investigated this crash calling it a suspected suicide. According to the state medical examiner's office, Rouse's cause of death was smoke inhalation and thermal burns.
It remains unclear why Rouse came to the National Weather Center or if he was somehow connected to the building prior to his apparent suicide.
