The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has identified a man who was shot and killed by Cushing police, after he reportedly threatened two bystanders with a gun.

According to the OSBI, around 3:00 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to the report of an unwanted person at the property at a home in the 500 block of South Little in Cushing.

When officers arrived, they said the suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Shawn Allen Hall of Ripley, pulled out a handgun and pointed it at two bystanders at the scene.

Officers said they told Hall multiple times to drop his weapon, but he refused and continued to threaten the bystanders. That’s when police said an officer fired one shot at Hall.

Hall was pronounced dead at the scene.

The case remains under investigation. The officer involved has been placed on paid routine leave pending the outcome of the investigation by OSBI.

At the conclusion of the investigation, OSBI agents will present the district attorney with the facts of the case. The district attorney will then determine whether the shooting was justified.
