Past the hustle and bustle of city living, some old cowboys proudly carry on a tradition.

“Today you don’t get serious,” says 79-year-old Marshall Baker.

Baker is one of about dozen elderly horseback riders who meet once a week for a ride.

“As long as we are on a horse we can’t be doing anything wrong,” says Dave Glass, who helped start the group ride.

“It relaxing its get your mind off everything,” adds Baker.

Every Tuesday, since 1999, the group has met for a two to three hour horseback ride near Geary and Hinton.

At one point, the group used to have around 20 people, but now about a dozen older riders take part.

“The call us the ‘old farts,’” says Baker about the group’s nickname.

The group, whose members come from all over Oklahoma for the Tuesday ride, quickly became great friends.

“Salt of the earth people,” describes Glass about his fellow riders.

The day ends when the group invites their wives to a restaurant for dinner that night.
