A car burglar tried to steal from at least ten cars in Midwest City, where police are seeing a car burglary trend on the southwest side of town.

One of the victims caught the latest crime spree on her security camera.

A sign posted in the neighborhood in the 2400 block of Sandra Drive says, "Smile, you're on camera."

Those cameras were rolling as a car burglary suspect worked his way through every single car in the cul-de-sac.

“It's a little bit frustrating,” said homeowner Jessica Edmondson.  “You kind of feel like your privacy is violated and you almost feel like your kids aren't safe,” she added.

Edmondson's security cameras caught the crime at 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

The man hit her neighbors' three vehicles, getting inside at least one of them, then he came to her three vehicles, where he was able to get inside the SUV.

He vandalized the radio, then actually gathered up the DVD players from the head rests, but must have had trouble and left them behind.

The best look at his face is when he peers inside the truck just before the motion light comes on.

“Our motion light came on and he just kind of looked at it and then he walks over next door, but he just kept on,” Edmondson told News 9.

The suspect then tried to burglarize four other cars at the other neighbors’ homes.

Despite his efforts, he only got away with some loose change.

“Go get a job, stop trying to rob people,” Edmondson said, wishing she could say it to the suspect.

Midwest City Police said these car burglaries are on the rise on the southwest side and most are happening in the middle of the night.

“Even though it didn't directly involve kids in this scenario, you still worry for your kids because people like that, they are probably out stealing stuff for money for drugs or something, so there is no telling what they would do,” Edmondson added.

If you recognize the man in the video, call Midwest City Police.
