OKLAHOMA CITY -

A pit bull that was violently attacked by group of dogs gets a new "fur-ever" home.

News 9 has been following Bootsy's story since a viral video surfaced.

Bootsy has made a full recovery and now he has a well deserving owner for a lifetime.

The video of Bootsy being attacked back in June is still difficult to watch.

The video, shared thousands of times, shows three pit bulls attacking Bootsy in someone's back yard.

Animal Welfare and Oklahoma City police launched an investigation and citations were issued.

Bootsy was taken away with several injuries.

But nearly three months after that incident, Animal Welfare had a hard time finding the pit a permanent home.

“I figured with him being on the news, he’d be flooded with applications, so I didn’t,” said Harned.

Air Force veteran Michael Harned, now disabled and on kidney dialysis, has had his eye on Bootsy since day one.

He says it's time for a special companion.

“I know he needed a forever home that somebody would give him, lots of love and attention because of all the trouble and the trauma and everything he’s been through,” said Harned.

But he never thought his chances of actually adopting him would come true.

One of the requirements was to send a three page essay to the shelter, but Michael never sent it until he learned last Friday Bootsy was still available.

“And I put in my essay and got a call to come talk to him, and I met Bootsy and we hit it off,” said Harned.

Now, what Michael has been waiting on for weeks is happening.

“I’ve got goosebumps,” said Harned.

He will finally takes Bootsy home for good.

At last check the owner of the home where Bootsy was attacked was given at least four citations.
