BECKHAM COUNTY, Oklahoma -

A bizarre ordeal inside the Beckham County jail ended when an inmate's ear was bitten off, and it happened inside one of the cells.

Jail fights are nothing new, but this one escalated to the point that one inmate ended up with bite marks all over his body and a missing ear.

"Fights in jails? Pretty common,” Beckham County Undersheriff Jeff Bilbo said. “Someone having part of their ear bit off? Not common at all."

The power had been going off and on inside the jail. All the inmates were locked down, and Gatluak Wal Chuol and Isaiah Lime were put in a cell together. It didn't go well.

“Chuol’s got a DUI and an assault and battery on a police officer,” Bilbo said.

Now, he's looking at another one, and this time, it is on another inmate, Isaiah Lime.

Jail officials say at some point the two started fighting, and by the time, it was over Lime was missing half his ear. Chuol said it "fell off."

"He claims that the other inmate attacked him, and he was fending him off,” Bilbo said. “He grabbed him by the ear with his hand and slung him to the ground, and his ear came off."

However, Lime has bite marks on his body.

"The other inmate has bite marks on his hands and bite marks on his ears,” Bilbo said. “So it's pretty obvious that he just bit his ear off."

Lime was treated at the hospital and then transferred from Beckham County jail to the Canadian County jail where he was facing other charges. News 9 caught up with his sister there.

"He said he just woke up and the guy grabbed his hand and was trying to bite his fingers off and then went for his ear,” Gwen Lime said.

Like the sheriff, she took pictures of the punishment that wasn't part of the sentence.

"I started crying,” she said. “He doesn't deserve that."

Lime's sister said doctors told her brother he needed several surgeries including several to repair his ear.
