Authorities are investigating a homicide in the 5800 block of West Skelly Drive. It happened around 1:30 p.m. at the Rest Inn, a motel just off Interstate 44 in Sapulpa.

Authorities are looking for Damon Caldwell as a suspect in the homicide. He may be driving a white 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis with severe hail damage and a stuffed animal in the back window. The Oklahoma license plate on the vehicle is 964 LNR.

Call 911 if you see the vehicle.

Caldwell is a 41-year-old white male with a criminal  history that includes several assault and battery charges. Police say he was in an argument with Michael Glenn Norwood, 43, when the fatal shooting took place.

Neighbors we spoke to say after hearing the shots they called police and saw Norwood stumbling back up the stairs to his room. When police and EMSA arrived, they found Norwood on the floor in the room. When police tried to talk to him, they didn't get an answer.

Police said after he shot the Norwood, Caldwell then carjacked another man in the parking lot. Terry Williams said Caldwell told him he'd just killed someone and to give him the car or get shot.

"I got in the car to go back to work, and the guy just came to my car from nowhere," Williams said. "I don't know where he came from, and said, 'I need your car. I just killed someone and I will kill you, too.'

"I was terrified. I thought I was gone. I thought I was a dead one."

Williams identified a photo of a Damon B. Caldwell from the Oklahoma Department of Corrections website. Police confirm the date of birth is the same. Williams said Caldwell has longer hair now.

Police say Caldwell was staying at the inn and so was Norwood. It's not clear how the two know each other.

Tulsa and Sapulpa law enforcement officers both investigated the scene and placed orange cones to mark what are believed to be shell casings. Police tape was set up to block off the parking lot.
